As executive editor of Charisma, the magazine won two Charlie Awards (Florida Magazine Association’s top award) for the April 2015 “Jesus Goes to Hollywood” issue and the June 2015 “It’s Supernatural!” issue.

A magazine I wrote for – Rebel – won 2011 and 2012 Eddie Awards (FOLIO: magazine’s prestigious journalism award) for the best series of articles, the “Rebel with a Cause” feature I wrote.
* Outstanding Fraud Reporter award, 2010
The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office honored me with the “Outstanding Fraud Reporter” award for stories in the Los Angeles Daily News that contributed to legislative changes saving California taxpayers hundreds of millions of dollars.
* Pulitzer Prize nomination, 2004
As a reporter for the Los Angeles Daily News, I was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize and featured in an award-winning documentary for a foster care series that contributed to “revolutionary” local, state and national reforms that officials later described as a “phenomenal success.”

The Los Angeles Daily News won these awards for its coverage of the Buford O’Neal Furrow, Jr. shooting rampage at a Jewish community center. I wrote and contributed to many of these stories.
* National first place Donrey Media Group award, 1998
As a reporter at the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin in Ontario, Calif., I won this award for a five-part series on the dangers – including several deaths – of pesticide use in schools. After the series was published, state lawmakers passed a bill reducing pesticide use at California schools.
* First place Society of Professional Journalists award, 1998
I won this award at the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin for stories I wrote about the declining population of bighorn sheep in the San Gabriel and San Bernardino mountains.
* Nevada State Press awards, 1991-1995
I won more than a dozen NSP awards as a reporter at the Nevada Appeal, including several first place awards for investigative reporting.
